Knowledge Economy Community Forum

Fabulous turnout at the Perry & MartyGranoff Center for the Creative Arts at the November Business After Hours event. GPCC members explored this remarkable, inspirational space on Brown's campus. This new, innovative facility features a state of the art recital hall, recording studio, multi-media lab and studios for multi-disciplinary work. Programs/courses are being created to foster collaboration among artists, scientists and humanists seeking to create new art forms and new approaches to collaborative work. To quote Richard Fishman, "this space brings together the two most important components of our existence....our brain and our soul."

Knowledge Economy Community Forum

It was released at the Knowledge Economy Community forum held at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at BrownUniversity. The event also featured an impressive parade of local entrepreneurs, who presented their company pitches to the standing room only crowd.

Business Over Easy

Meet the New Leaders event, sponsored by Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP, was recently convened at the Providence Biltmore. This popular forum introduces Rhode Island’s new top executives to the community and provides a forum to share lessons of leadership.

The panel provided their insights into strategies for effective and thoughtful development within their respective organizations and gave their perspectives for providing a climate for collaboration. Panelists included Donald Farish, president, Roger Williams University; Timothy Horan, president, National Grid Rhode Island; Dennis Keefe, president & CEO, Care New England; and Mim Runey, president, Providence Campus, Johnson & Wales University.

All four panelists, although representing very different organizations, noted flexibility, inclusiveness and branding as important focuses of their leadership strategies. Balancing new initiatives within the existing culture and having sensitivity to timing of implementation these reforms was a theme they all lauded as important in developing confidence in their platforms. Steadfast, yet responsive planning was also a cornerstone to their strategy for sustaining their organizations during the lackluster economy.

The Chamber's first RIBQ Wrap Party was a huge success!

With an estimated readership of 30,000 RIBQ is a very prominent voice for the Chamber both within our membership and outside in the greater business community. We are so appreciative of our partnership with Rhode Island Monthly as we have really been able to produce a quality publication.

The wrap party is an interactive extension of the magazine’s pages, created it as a way for us to meet the people and talk more in depth about the topic that make up each issue.

Special thanks to host The Waterman Grille and specifically to Sales Manager Kimberly Crawley and General Manager Corey Barriera for their efforts in coordinating the event.
