The Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island honored 88 local businesses and other organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to employee wellness at 15th Annual Worksite Health Awards breakfast, held Thursday, May 28 at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. The event also a presentation by guest speaker Brian Luke Seward, an expert on stress management and holistic health.

 

"This year's honorees have recognized the benefits of health promotion and wellness programs in the workplace," said Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. "They have successfully focused their efforts on education, as well as company support for better behaviors to increase moral, decrease abstentism and feel a positive effect on thier bottom line."

 

This year, four levels of Healthy Company awards – exemplary, superior, outstanding and achievement – were presented to 88 businesses and other organizations that provide their workers with onsite wellness programs and health-related educational materials.
